Classroom Aide Paraprofessional
Job Goal: The classroom Paraprofessional assists in providing educational services to students.
Minimum
Qualifications:
Associates (or higher) degree, or 60 credits of study at an institution of higher education, or achieve a passing score on the Basic Skills Test of the Michigan Test for Teacher Certification (MTTC) or pass Work Keys test.
Relate to people in a positive manner.
Have training, course work, or equivalent experience in working with children.
Possess effective speaking and writing skills.
Assist with loading and unloading students from bus.
Possess effective skills using digital technology.
Reliable, consistent attendance record.
Basic Performance
Responsibilities:
Works closely and cooperatively with classroom teachers to support and reinforce the teachers instructional plans to help students succeed in the regular program, attain grade level proficiency and improve achievement.
Demonstrates initiative and creativity with individual children and their program implementation.
Follows through with prescribed behavioral management programs.
Records student data as stipulated.
Maintains confidentiality.
Assists individual students with self-care and daily living skills, as well as physical mobility, dispensing of medication, toileting, behavior modifications, etc., as needed.
Maintains composure and support for students under stressful conditions.
Serves as a source of information and help to any substitute teacher assigned in the absence of the regular teachers.
Participates in professional development activities within and outside of the District.
Performs such other duties and/or functions as assigned or deemed necessary by the natures of the work assignment and/or needs of the District.

Essential Functions:
The employee must occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds which requires bending, stooping, and lifting.
The employee must be able to use a variety of instructional materials in the classroom.
The employee must use hands and arms to manipulate objexts.
The employee must use keyboards, tools, and other controls.
The employee must stand, sit and move about the bulding unaided for extended perios of time.
The employee must have normal vision and hearing with or without aid.
Hours, Compensation: 6.5 hours per day assigned $11.36 per hour
